Stafford & District Woodturning Club

We are a small friendly group of woodturners and people interested in the craft. We meet on the second Monday of each month at Hopton Village Hall at 7:15 for a 7:30 start.

There is a varied programme throughout the year, with professional demonstrators and skilled amateurs, DVD and discussion night and usually a hands on night also. We have a break for refreshments about half way through the evening and end the meeting at 10pm.

Our Facebook page: Stafford Woodturners
Email : staffordwoodturners@virginmedia.com

We would be very pleased to welcome anyone who would be interested in coming along to see what we do. Just turn up at the Hall on a meeting night, or contact Secretary Ron on 01785 242010.

Knit and Natter

Knit and Natter Group

Our Knit and Natter group attracts customers from as far away as Stafford, Hednesford and Hixon as well as Hopton. The funds generated from this club go towards many wonderful causes: the church roof, MacMillan Cancer Support, Katherine House Hospice, and motor-neuron disease to name but a few. Last year, the group raised £190 for The British Legion, by making and selling knitted poppies. Shirley and Jan, the group leaders, meet their knitters every Monday afternoon from 2.00 until 4.00 p.m. except for Bank Holidays. The group leaders’ natural enthusiasm is very infectious and they are quite pleased with what the group has achieved because we are not just talking about knitting and crochet, we are also talking about an opportunity to join in a great social occasion with various themes for example, a gin and tonic afternoon.

So there are two reasons to join this club. If you are seriously (or only vaguely) into knitting or crochet, you can get tuition whether you are right or left-handed. If you are seriously into conversation and a great laugh looking at the lighter side of life – this is also the club for you. The Knitters and Natterers love this group and happily pay £3 per session OR provide the cake!

The group responds to most requests from knitting blankets to creating the most gorgeous white dress in memory of a still-born child which was donated to the neo-natal clinic

Out with loneliness, in with the Knit and Natter group!
